Food and drink • browser-only

Find recurring restaurant complaints.

Paste or upload a batch of reviews and see which food and drink complaints repeat. This English phrase matcher counts reviews mentioning a theme, not the number of times a word appears. It is a triage worksheet for restaurants, cafes and bars, not a sentiment model or a benchmark against other businesses.

At least 20 distinct reviews; at most 200 submitted rows. Maximum 300 KiB; 2,000 characters per review. Exact duplicates are removed. English food and drink phrases only.

How should I prepare the review batch?

Choose one location and one consistent date window before exporting. Do not mix old and recent feedback, different channels or different stores and then call the result a trend. You can compare separate runs only when you keep their definitions aligned. Use between 20 and 200 reviews; those are this tool's input limits, not a claim that the sample is statistically representative.

For plain text, put one complete review on each line. For CSV, include a clearly named review, review_text or text column; quoted commas and line breaks are supported. Remove names, emails, phone numbers and identifiers first. The tool ignores other columns, but removing personal data before opening any file is a better habit. Exact repeated texts are counted once and reported as duplicates.

What do the counts mean?

Each theme counts a review at most once. One review can mention both a slow queue and a wrong order, so theme counts can overlap and should not be added together as a total number of unhappy guests. The denominator is the unique reviews accepted in this run, including reviews that did not match a complaint phrase.

The matcher uses explicit English phrases for cold food, slow service, order accuracy, cleanliness, staff interactions, delivery and allergy concerns. It excludes some common negations, but language is messy. Sarcasm, unusual phrasing, spelling errors, a quoted complaint or a description of a past visit can all mislead it. Unmatched reviews are not necessarily positive.

How do I turn a theme into useful work?

Go back to the original source privately and check the reviews behind the suspected pattern. Write down the part of the service process you can observe, such as the order-to-pickup handoff. Give the next investigation or action to one person. Record what they will check and how the team will decide whether the action was completed.

A repeated theme is a reason to investigate, not proof of a cause. Cold food comments might involve holding, preparation timing, packaging or the trip home. Review counts cannot tell you which explanation is right. Observe the process and compare like-for-like later feedback before deciding what changed. Keep the distinction between an action completed and a customer problem resolved.

What are the privacy and scope limits?

Files are read locally in memory. The text and filename are not uploaded, logged or stored by this tool. Results contain aggregate theme counts, not names or review excerpts. Exporting a CSV downloads that aggregate result to your device. Clear the form to remove the current input and output from the page.

This vocabulary is tuned for food and drink. It should not be presented as a reliable classifier for dental, automotive, medical or other unrelated businesses. It also cannot detect a spike, establish causation or compare your results with an industry average. Keep the method version with any exported result so a later change to the vocabulary is visible.

Questions operators ask

Why do counts add up to more than the number of reviews?

A review can mention several themes. Each theme counts a review once, but the same review may appear in more than one theme.

Does this tool store uploaded files?

No. It reads the selected file in your browser and keeps the current input in memory only. Use Clear when finished.

Is this a reliable classifier for every business?

No. It is an English phrase matcher tuned for food and drink, with false positives and missed matches. A person should check the original reviews.
